US Diplomat Highlights Strong India–US Ties Under Trump And PM Modi Leadership

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has praised the strength of India–United States relations, stating that President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi share an exceptionally close diplomatic relationship, reflecting deepening strategic ties between the two countries.
In remarks made during an exclusive interview with IANS at the White House, Rubio described India as one of the United States’ closest strategic partners. He said the Trump administration holds Prime Minister Narendra Modi in high regard and views the bilateral relationship as one of the most important global partnerships in contemporary diplomacy.
Rubio emphasised that the personal rapport between the two leaders has played a significant role in strengthening ties. He stated that President Trump and Prime Minister Modi “couldn’t be closer,” adding that this level of engagement is crucial for advancing cooperation on key international issues.

Highlighting India’s global rise, the US Secretary of State said the country is making significant economic gains under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and is increasingly becoming a major voice in global decision-making. He noted that India’s growing influence has naturally reinforced its partnership with the United States across multiple sectors.
He further pointed out that the two nations share deep alignment as the world’s largest democracies, with common values and strategic interests forming the foundation of their cooperation. According to him, this alignment has enabled expanded collaboration in areas such as trade, energy, critical minerals, supply chain resilience, security, and maritime freedom of navigation.
Rubio also acknowledged the contribution of the Indian-American community in strengthening bilateral ties, describing it as an important cultural and economic bridge between the two countries. He said the community has enriched the United States in multiple ways while also reinforcing people-to-people connections that support the broader India–US relationship.
