US And Iran Delegations Arrive In Islamabad For Peace Talks After Ceasefire Deal
US and Iran begin peace talks in Islamabad after ceasefire deal amid ongoing regional tensions.
High-level diplomatic efforts aimed at consolidating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran are underway in Islamabad, where delegations from both countries are expected to hold key peace talks on Thursday. The discussions come amid heightened global attention following recent hostilities involving the US, Israel, and Iran.
According to reports, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has already arrived in Islamabad to lead the Iranian delegation, reportedly referred to as “Minab 168.” The talks are expected to focus on maintaining the recently announced ceasefire agreement and preventing further escalation in the region.
The diplomatic developments follow claims that the United States and Iran reached a ceasefire deal late Tuesday, just hours before an ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump regarding potential strikes on Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges. The ceasefire announcement has been described as a critical step in avoiding further military confrontation.

In the wake of the agreement, both President Trump and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir were thanked for their involvement in mediating and supporting the peace process.
The Islamabad talks are being closely watched internationally, with US Vice President JD Vance reportedly en route to join discussions. Officials from all sides are expected to evaluate implementation mechanisms for the ceasefire and explore pathways for longer-term de-escalation in the region.
While details remain limited, the meeting is being viewed as a critical diplomatic test for sustaining the fragile truce and preventing renewed conflict in an already volatile geopolitical landscape involving the United States, Iran, and Israel.
