Trump Urges Nations to “Go Get Your Own Oil” Amid US-Israeli Strikes on Iranian Sites
Trump tells nations to seize oil themselves as US-Israel strikes hit Iran.
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a provocative statement urging countries struggling with fuel shortages to secure oil themselves in the Strait of Hormuz, as US-Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted key sites in Iran. In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump said nations that had not joined the West Asia conflict should “build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” adding that the United States would not provide assistance.
Trump’s post continued, “The USA won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren't there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!” He also criticized France for blocking flights carrying military supplies to Israel, calling the country “VERY UNHELPFUL” in the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that a series of strikes hit military bases, a pharmaceutical plant, and a religious site. Video footage verified by AFP showed massive explosions and smoke rising in Isfahan, central Iran, while state media reported damage to the Grand Husseiniya, a Shia religious centre in Zanjan. Iran’s health ministry said a desalination plant on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz was left “completely out of service,” and a pharmaceutical plant producing cancer drugs and anaesthetics was also targeted.

The timing of the desalination plant strike was unclear, but analysts warned that any attack on civilian water infrastructure could escalate the conflict, given the plant’s importance: desalinated water supplies 42 percent of drinking water in the United Arab Emirates, 70 percent in Saudi Arabia, 86 percent in Oman, and 90 percent in Kuwait. Iran has repeatedly vowed to respond to regional strikes with retaliatory attacks on neighboring countries’ infrastructure.
The strikes come amid a month-long confrontation between Iran and Israel, with US involvement increasing tensions in the region. Trump’s statements appear aimed at pressuring Iran to accept a US-proposed settlement, while signaling that the United States may not intervene to support other nations affected by the conflict.
Analysts warn that Trump’s rhetoric, combined with ongoing strikes, risks drawing neighboring states into the conflict, heightening the potential for wider regional escalation. The situation remains fluid, with international observers closely monitoring developments in the Strait of Hormuz and across Iran.
