Trump Tells Iranian Nationals ‘Freedom Is Near’ After US-Israel Military Action
US President outlines objectives, warns Iranian forces, and reiterates nuclear red line.
US President Donald Trump on Saturday declared that “the hour of freedom is at hand” for the people of Iran, shortly after confirming joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on targets in Tehran. In a nationally televised address, Trump said the operation followed Iran’s refusal to accept “every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions.”
Addressing Iranian civilians directly, Trump urged them to remain indoors as the military campaign unfolds. “Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere,” he said, before adding, “When we are finished, take over your government.” His remarks signaled a pointed appeal to public dissent amid escalating hostilities between Washington and Tehran.
The president also issued a stark warning to members of Iran’s security establishment, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the armed forces, and police. He said they must “lay down your weapons and have complete immunity, or, in the alternative, face certain death.” The ultimatum underscored the administration’s effort to fracture support within Iran’s military and security institutions during the unfolding conflict.

Trump framed the strikes as a defensive necessity, stating that the objective was to eliminate what he described as imminent threats posed by Iran’s leadership. He accused Tehran of arming and funding militant groups across the Middle East, citing activities stretching “from Lebanon to Yemen and Syria to Iraq.” According to Trump, these actions have endangered US troops, overseas bases, regional allies, and potentially the American homeland.
Reiterating long-standing US policy, Trump insisted that Iran “can never have a nuclear weapon.” He referenced a prior US military action, dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer, which he claimed targeted nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Pledging further action, Trump said the United States would dismantle Iran’s missile capabilities, “annihilate their navy,” and prevent proxy groups from destabilizing the region. He concluded by urging Iranians to “seize control of your destiny,” describing the moment as a decisive turning point for the country’s future.
