Trump Calls UN Approval of Gaza Plan a “Historic” Victory
President boasts Security Council vote as greatest UN moment ever.
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social within minutes of Monday’s UN Security Council vote to proclaim the resolution endorsing his Gaza peace plan as “one of the biggest approvals in the History of the United Nations.” In a series of all-caps posts, he celebrated the creation of the “BOARD OF PEACE, which will be chaired by me,” declaring it would not only stabilize Gaza but “lead to further Peace all over the World” and cement his legacy as the ultimate deal-maker on the global stage.
The U.S.-drafted resolution sailed through with 13 votes in favor and only Russia and China abstaining, formally authorizing the deployment of an International Stabilization Force by early 2026 and establishing Trump’s personally chaired Board of Peace as the supreme transitional authority for Gaza until at least December 2027. The text praises the plan’s 20-point roadmap, which includes phased Israeli withdrawal, large-scale reconstruction funded by Gulf states, and the eventual demilitarization of all armed factions inside the Strip.
U.S. Ambassador Michael Waltz, speaking to reporters outside the Security Council chamber, described Gaza as “hell on earth for far too long” and hailed the multinational force — expected to include troops from Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, and other Muslim-majority nations — as the key to securing streets, escorting humanitarian convoys, and preventing any return to October 2023-style warfare. Waltz stressed that the Board of Peace will report directly to the Council every six months, ensuring transparency while giving Trump unprecedented personal leverage over the process.

The resolution also contains carefully worded language about a “credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood” once the Palestinian Authority completes governance reforms and Gaza’s rebuilding reaches irreversible milestones. Trump supporters see this as a masterstroke that pressures both sides without immediate concessions, while the White House is already touting the vote as proof that America is back leading the world under Trump’s “peace through strength” doctrine.
Yet cracks are already visible: Hamas immediately rejected the plan as an “international trusteeship” that violates Palestinian rights, Israeli hardliners including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called any statehood reference a “betrayal,” and Russia’s deputy ambassador warned the Council against handing one country unchecked control over another people’s territory. Despite the fireworks, Trump’s team insists the UN seal of approval has turned his once-mocked Gaza vision into the only game in town.
