Tehran Targets Hit: Iran Warns Israel, US Over Oil and Desalination Strikes
Iran warns Israel, US after attacks on oil refineries and a desalination plant.
Iran has issued a stern warning to Israel and the United States following attacks on several key oil refineries near Tehran late on Saturday. In addition to the energy infrastructure, a water desalination plant on Qeshm Island was reportedly targeted, affecting local communities dependent on its supply.
Responding to the strikes, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the actions as “dangerous” and warned of severe repercussions. He stressed that the United States had “set a precedent” through what he described as a “blatant and desperate crime” against civilian infrastructure.
“The US committed a blatant and desperate crime by attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island. Water supplies for 30 villages have been impacted,” Araghchi said in a post on X. He added that targeting Iran’s infrastructure represents a serious escalation with far-reaching consequences.

The incident has raised concerns about the potential escalation of tensions in the region, with critical energy and water resources coming under attack. Analysts note that strikes on such facilities can have both domestic and international ramifications, affecting civilian populations and global markets.
While Iran has not yet detailed the specific nature of its planned response, officials have indicated that any retaliation will be measured but significant, emphasizing that attacks on civilian infrastructure will not be tolerated. The warning underscores the heightened geopolitical sensitivities between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
The international community has expressed concern over the strikes, calling for restraint and urging diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation. Observers are closely monitoring the situation as Tehran and Washington assess their next steps amid rising regional tensions.
