China Supports Iran’s Sovereignty, Urges Peace Amid US-Israel Strikes

China supports Iran defending sovereignty, urges US-Israel to halt strikes, pledges diplomatic efforts for peace.

China expressed strong support for Iran defending itself against US-Israel strikes, while urging restraint and pushing for a peaceful resolution to the escalating conflict in West Asia.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a call with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday, emphasized that Beijing “cherishes the traditional friendship between China and Iran” and supports Tehran in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity. Wang reiterated China’s position that the US and Israel should immediately cease military operations to prevent further escalation.

In a separate call with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, Wang criticized the US and Israel for “violating the purposes and principles of the UN Charter” and pledged that China would play a constructive role through the UN Security Council to promote justice, peace, and conflict resolution.

Wang also spoke with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, warning that the world risks “regression to the law of the jungle” if major powers act unilaterally based on military superiority. He stressed that the Iranian nuclear issue should ultimately return to political and diplomatic channels.

The conflict, triggered by US-Israel strikes on February 28, has already caused hundreds of casualties in Iran, with Tehran responding with missile and drone attacks on Israel, Gulf states, and a British base in Cyprus. Four US military personnel have been reported killed so far, and US President Donald Trump has warned that the war could last for weeks.
