Speeding Trailer Hits Stationary Tractor On NH-30 In Maihar, Injures Over 15 People

Over 15 injured after speeding trailer hits stationary tractor-trolley on NH-30 in Maihar.

At least 15 people were injured in a serious road accident on National Highway 30 near Rigra Bridge in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district on Saturday morning, after a speeding trailer rammed into a stationary tractor-trolley parked along the roadside, officials said.

The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Nadan Police Station when the trailer collided violently with the tractor-trolley, which had reportedly stopped after running out of diesel. The impact of the crash was severe enough to throw several occupants into the air, causing multiple injuries as the vehicle was carrying passengers at the time of the incident.

All the injured are said to be residents of Beldara village and were returning home after attending a ‘Barho’ ceremony when the accident took place. The collision led to chaos at the scene, triggering a massive traffic jam on the busy highway and prompting locals to rush in and assist the victims before emergency teams arrived.

According to officials, there was also public anger over the delayed response from the police. Nadan Police Station in-charge Panch Raj Singh reportedly reached the site more than two hours after being informed, leading to resentment among victims’ families and onlookers. The delay has prompted calls for accountability from local authorities.

Emergency services were eventually mobilised after the situation escalated, with the Highway Patrolling Team shifting the injured to nearby hospitals. Most victims were admitted to civil hospitals in Maihar and Amarpatan, while two critically injured individuals were referred to the District Hospital in Satna for advanced treatment.

Those admitted to Amarpatan Civil Hospital include Sankhibai Saket (50), Ajay Bunkar (17), Pradeep Saket (24), and Santosh Saket (50), among others undergoing treatment. Relatives of some patients also reportedly created a disturbance at the hospital, alleging delays in ambulance response.

Police have registered a case and taken the trailer driver into custody. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on factors such as overspeeding, roadside parking of the tractor-trolley, and overall highway safety conditions along NH-30.
