PM Modi Reaffirms Support For Kuwait Sovereignty Amid West Asia Conflict
PM Modi urges diplomacy and supports Kuwait’s sovereignty amid West Asia tensions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reiterated India’s strong support for Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a telephone conversation with Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as tensions continue to rise across West Asia. The discussion comes amid heightened regional instability and growing concerns over civilian safety, including that of Indian nationals in the Gulf.
According to an official statement, the two leaders reviewed the evolving security situation in West Asia and exchanged views on the worsening regional environment. PM Modi expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and strongly condemned any attacks that violate Kuwait’s sovereignty, reaffirming India’s consistent diplomatic position on respect for international law and national boundaries.
The conversation also took place in the backdrop of reports that an Indian national was recently killed in an airstrike near Kuwait airport, an incident that has heightened concerns in New Delhi over the safety of expatriate workers in the region. Kuwait is home to a large Indian community, making developments in the country particularly significant for India’s foreign policy and consular priorities.
