PM Modi Greeted With Cultural Extravaganza By Indian Community In Norway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from members of the Indian community in Norway upon his arrival in Oslo for a state visit on Monday, with diaspora members gathering to greet him with Indian flags and chants of “Modi, Modi.” The visit marks a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening India’s ties with Nordic countries.

During the interaction, PM Modi acknowledged the enthusiastic reception and engaged with members of the Indian diaspora, including witnessing cultural performances. A group of young performers also presented a Bharatnatyam dance recital as part of the welcome programme, reflecting India’s cultural presence abroad.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister was formally received at the airport by his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre, underscoring the diplomatic importance of the visit. Modi expressed confidence that his engagements in Norway would further deepen bilateral relations between India and Norway.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the third India-Nordic Summit during his two-day visit, alongside holding bilateral talks with Norwegian leadership. He will also meet King Harald V and Queen Sonja and participate in the India-Norway Business and Research Summit, where discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, clean energy, and technological cooperation.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit is expected to add momentum to India-Norway relations, particularly in areas such as green technology, the blue economy, and investment flows. With trade and economic cooperation already expanding, both sides aim to further strengthen their partnership through new strategic and economic initiatives.
