PM Modi Extends Wishes To Denmark PM Mette Frederiksen On Third Term
PM Modi congratulates Denmark PM on third consecutive term.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on securing a third consecutive term in office, highlighting the continued strength of India-Denmark relations and reaffirming India’s commitment to expanding cooperation under the Green Strategic Partnership. The message comes as both countries look to deepen collaboration in sustainable development, clean energy, and innovation-driven sectors.
Narendra Modi said he looked forward to working closely with Frederiksen to further strengthen bilateral ties between India and Denmark. In a post on social media platform X, he described her electoral success as “remarkable” and emphasized that the partnership between the two countries is built on mutual trust, shared values, and a common vision for a sustainable future.
He particularly underscored the importance of the India–Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, which focuses on expanding cooperation in green energy transition, climate action, water management, and sustainable industrial development. Modi said both nations aim to take this collaboration to new heights for the benefit of their citizens.

Mette Frederiksen recently formed a new four-party coalition government after a prolonged 69-day negotiation process, described as the longest in Denmark’s political history. The coalition includes the Social Democrats, Socialist People’s Party, Social Liberal Party, and Moderates, reflecting a broad-based political arrangement following closely contested parliamentary elections.
Denmark’s March 24 elections resulted in Frederiksen’s Social Democrats remaining the largest party, though with reduced strength, leaving no single bloc with a parliamentary majority. The political landscape necessitated extensive negotiations to form a stable government, ultimately culminating in the current coalition arrangement approved by King Frederik X.
India and Denmark have significantly strengthened ties in recent years, particularly in green technology and sustainable development. The two leaders previously met in Oslo during a Nordic summit, where they discussed expanding cooperation in sectors such as clean energy, shipping, food processing, fintech, defence, and innovation. Both sides have also expressed interest in boosting investment flows and advancing discussions on a broader India–EU free trade agreement.
