Pakistan Government Denies Imran Khan Health Rumours As PTI Demands Proof Of Access
Pakistan government and PTI deny health crisis of jailed ex-PM.
Pakistani authorities and senior PTI leaders moved swiftly on Friday to dismiss intensifying social media rumours about the deteriorating health of incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, insisting that the 73-year-old opposition leader is in good condition and receiving regular medical care inside Adiala Jail. The controversy erupted after weeks of complete communication blackout, prompting the hashtag “Where is Imran Khan?” to trend worldwide on X.
Government spokesman Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, categorically rejected claims of any health emergency, stating that a dedicated medical team monitors Khan daily and weekly, overseeing his medication, diet, exercise regimen, and overall facilities. Interior Ministry officials reinforced the message, describing the circulating reports as “deliberately spread” misinformation while confirming that Khan remains housed in Adiala Jail with no plans for transfer to a higher-security facility.
Despite the official reassurances, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf continues to express grave concern over the prolonged denial of access to their party founder. PTI leaders revealed that neither family members nor legal counsel have been permitted to meet Khan for over three weeks, in apparent violation of court orders. Party delegations have been repeatedly turned away from the prison gates, and demonstrations by supporters outside Adiala Jail have grown increasingly vocal in demanding transparency.

PTI Senator Ali Zafar emphasised that only a direct meeting could conclusively dispel public anxiety, urging the government to immediately facilitate access for party representatives. Central Information Secretary Waqas Akram echoed the sentiment, asserting that the persistent isolation has fuelled legitimate fears despite official denials. The party has raised the matter in the Senate and appealed to the Interior Ministry to end what it describes as unjustifiable restrictions.
Adding an international dimension to the crisis, Imran Khan’s younger son Kasim Khan issued an emotional appeal on social media, alleging that his father has been held in solitary confinement inside a “death cell” for six weeks with “zero transparency.” Describing the total communication blackout as a deliberate attempt to conceal his father’s true condition, Kasim called on global human rights organisations and democratic governments to intervene urgently, demand proof of life, and enforce court-ordered family access to Pakistan’s most popular political leader.
