Ohio Teen’s Mother Calls For ICE Deportation Of Indian Man In Crash Case

Ohio teen’s mother backs deportation after fatal crash.

The mother of a pregnant teenage girl killed in a high-speed car crash in Ohio has said she supports US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deporting the accused driver back to India, according to a report by Newsweek. The case has drawn significant public attention due to the circumstances of the fatal accident and the immigration status of the accused.

The incident involved 17-year-old Ashlee Holmes, who was a passenger in a Range Rover driven by Tarsem Singh, the accused. Authorities said the crash occurred after Singh allegedly failed to stop for law enforcement officers and instead accelerated, triggering a police pursuit that reached speeds of around 100 mph (160 km/h). The chase reportedly continued for approximately five miles before ending in a head-on collision with a Jeep Cherokee.

Holmes, who was pregnant at the time, was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the crash and died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee sustained injuries but remained conscious and alert, according to officials. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the sequence of events began when Singh attempted to evade a traffic stop, leading to the fatal pursuit and collision.

In a public statement shared by ICE on social media platform X, the agency described the crash as a case involving a “criminal” foreign national and said an immigration detainer had been placed on Singh to ensure he remains in custody throughout legal proceedings. The agency added that he would face deportation proceedings after the completion of the criminal case, and not be released back into the community.

Singh has been indicted on multiple charges, including two counts of felony involuntary manslaughter related to the deaths of Holmes and her unborn child, two counts of felony reckless homicide, two counts of felony aggravated vehicular homicide, felony vehicular assault, and felony failure to comply with a police officer’s order or signal. Authorities have also confirmed that he is being held on a bond set at $1 million while the case proceeds through the legal system.

Speaking to Newsweek, Holmes’ mother, Annette Holmes, said she supports the decision to deport Singh, stating that she does not want him in the United States. She also said she believes he entered the country illegally and added that he should be removed permanently following the conclusion of the case. The comments have added an emotional dimension to an already high-profile legal matter, which continues to be investigated by authorities.
