Fire Breaks Out At Ameerpet Commercial Complex In Hyderabad, Shops Damaged
Fire destroys shops in Ameerpet complex, no casualties reported.
A major fire broke out at a commercial complex in Hyderabad’s Ameerpet area on Thursday afternoon, gutting multiple shops and triggering panic in one of the city’s busiest trading hubs. Police confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, even as thick smoke engulfed the surrounding locality and disrupted normal activity.
According to officials, the blaze began around 1 pm at KSR Fashions, a garments showroom located inside a three-storey commercial building in Srinivasa Nagar West, near metro pillar number 1043. The fire spread rapidly through parts of the complex, prompting immediate evacuation of shop owners, staff, and customers from the premises as a precautionary measure.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar confirmed the incident through a post on social media platform X, stating that emergency response and rescue operations were launched without delay. He added that authorities were closely monitoring the situation to ensure the fire did not spread to adjacent buildings in the densely packed commercial area.

Fire department officials said seven fire engines were deployed to the site shortly after the alert was received. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly an hour in challenging conditions before managing to bring it under control. Their swift action helped prevent the flames from spreading further within the commercial complex and into neighbouring establishments. Officials noted that the timely evacuation of the building played a crucial role in preventing any loss of life.
Despite significant material damage to several shops, emergency teams confirmed that all individuals inside the premises were safely evacuated. The incident, however, caused panic among traders and commuters in the busy Ameerpet market area. Preliminary assessments by fire officials suggest that the blaze may have originated in a commercial section of the complex before spreading rapidly due to the presence of highly combustible materials such as textiles and other retail goods.
However, authorities have stated that the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined and will be established following a detailed investigation. The incident also led to major traffic disruptions in and around Ameerpet and SR Nagar, with congestion reported on key connecting routes. Police said vehicular movement on the Ameerpet–SR Nagar corridor was temporarily affected due to firefighting operations and emergency response activity at the site.
Authorities deployed additional personnel to regulate traffic and minimise inconvenience to commuters as firefighting efforts continued. Officials added that monitoring of the area remained in place until the situation was fully stabilised. The fire has once again raised concerns about fire safety compliance in densely populated commercial complexes in urban centres, where narrow access points and high footfall can complicate emergency response efforts. Further details are expected after a comprehensive probe into the incident.
