Niagara Police Believe Manpreet Singh Fled to India after Murder of Amanpreet Saini in Lincoln

Canadian authorities launch a nationwide search for Manpreet Singh, accused of killing 27-year-old Amanpreet Saini in Lincoln.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for 27-year-old Manpreet Singh, an Indian-origin resident of Brampton, in connection with the second-degree murder of 27-year-old Amanpreet Saini, also believed to be of Indian heritage, authorities announced on October 28, 2025. The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detailed that Saini's body was discovered on October 21 in a park in Lincoln, Ontario, bearing signs of traumatic injuries consistent with foul play.

Investigators suspect Singh fled the country shortly after the discovery, prompting international alerts and collaboration with agencies like the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to locate him. This case marks a tragic escalation in violence within the South Asian diaspora community in the Greater Toronto Area, where interpersonal disputes have occasionally turned deadly amid cultural pressures and migration stresses.

The NRPS described the incident as a targeted attack with no broader threat to public safety, suggesting a personal motive between the victim and suspect, though specifics remain under wraps to protect the ongoing investigation. Saini, a Brampton local, was last seen in the days leading up to her death, and preliminary enquiries point to a possible acquaintance with Singh, fuelling speculation of domestic or relational conflict.

Police have urged the public not to approach Singh if sighted, releasing his photo for identification and emphasising immediate 911 calls. Tips can also be directed to NRPS detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 100-9334, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. As the manhunt intensifies, digital forensics and border surveillance are key focuses, given Singh's suspected international departure.

This murder underscores rising concerns over gender-based violence in Canada's immigrant enclaves, where underreporting and cultural stigma often complicate justice efforts. The Indian diaspora, numbering over 1.8 million in Ontario alone, has seen a spike in such incidents post-pandemic, with advocacy groups like the South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario calling for enhanced community support and mental health resources.

Saini's family, described as devastated, is cooperating with authorities while grappling with the loss; a GoFundMe for funeral costs has garnered widespread support from the Punjabi community in Peel Region. NRPS has committed to cultural sensitivity in the probe, involving liaison officers familiar with Sikh and Hindu traditions to build trust.

As the warrant circulates globally, including through Interpol channels, Singh's flight raises questions about travel facilitation and extradition hurdles, particularly if he returns to India. The case echoes previous high-profile pursuits, like the 2023 manhunt for a suspect in a Brampton stabbing, highlighting Canada's challenges in policing transient populations. Public vigilance remains crucial, with NRPS vowing swift action to honour Saini's memory and deter similar crimes. Updates are expected as leads emerge, offering a sombre reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young women in diaspora settings.
