NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund: Deadline Extended to June 22 as 13 Lakh Submit Bank Details

NTA extends NEET UG 2026 fee refund bank detail deadline to June 22, 2026.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for NEET UG 2026 candidates to submit their bank account details for examination fee refunds until June 22, following the controversy surrounding the medical entrance exam and the announcement of a re-examination. The agency said nearly 13 lakh candidates have already updated their banking information through the official registration portal as preparations continue for the retest scheduled on June 21.

The extension was announced through a public notice issued by the NTA on May 27, in which the agency stated that a dedicated refund facility remains active on the NEET UG 2026 portal. Candidates seeking reimbursement have been asked to log in using their application credentials and complete the refund process by providing accurate bank account details. Officials said the extended deadline is aimed at ensuring that all eligible students receive their refunds without complications.

The NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3, came under scrutiny after allegations related to a paper leak triggered nationwide concern among students and parents. The controversy eventually led authorities to announce a re-examination for affected candidates. The NTA had earlier clarified that students appearing for the retest would not be required to pay any additional examination fee and that the amount already collected during the original registration process would be refunded directly to candidates.

According to official figures, approximately 23 lakh students had registered for NEET UG 2026, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in the country. The refund exercise is therefore being treated as a major administrative process requiring coordination between examination authorities, banking systems, and candidate verification mechanisms. The NTA said the submission of accurate bank details is essential to avoid delays in the transfer of funds.

Education experts noted that the decision to extend the deadline may provide relief to candidates who faced technical difficulties or were unable to complete the refund process earlier. Several students had reportedly raised concerns over limited time and confusion regarding the refund portal, prompting the agency to keep the facility open for a longer period. The NTA has urged candidates to carefully verify their bank account information before final submission to ensure smooth processing.

The NEET UG examination remains the primary gateway for admission into undergraduate medical programs across India, including MBBS, BDS, and allied healthcare courses. With the retest now approaching, authorities are expected to implement enhanced security and monitoring measures to restore confidence in the examination process. Meanwhile, students continue to await further updates regarding admit cards, examination centers, and detailed instructions for the June 21 re-examination.
