Mojtaba Khamenei Makes Revenge Pledge During Father’s Funeral Speech

Mojtaba Khamenei makes revenge pledge at father’s funeral ceremony.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has pledged to seek revenge for the death of his predecessor and father, Ali Khamenei, during a message released on the occasion of funeral ceremonies. In the statement, he said the people of the Islamic Republic demand retaliation for the killing of Ali Khamenei and others described as martyrs of recent conflicts.

In his written message shared on social media, Mojtaba Khamenei said Iran would “avenge the blood” of the former leader and those killed in the wars. He stated that the country’s response would take place regardless of whether he or other officials remained in their positions, saying the matter was not dependent on any individual.

The statement was issued as funeral ceremonies were held for Ali Khamenei, who, according to the report, was killed in US-Israeli strikes on his office in Tehran on February 28. He was later laid to rest at the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad, where thousands of supporters gathered to pay their respects.

Mojtaba Khamenei also expressed gratitude for what he described as a historic turnout of supporters across Iran and Iraq. He specifically mentioned gatherings in cities including Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala and Mashhad, praising the participation of people who attended the funeral events.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has spoken publicly about alleged threats from Iran against him. A day before Khamenei’s statement, Trump said he had been on Iran’s list of targets for a long time and claimed he had issued instructions regarding a possible response if an attack against him occurred. Trump also said that there were no new assassination plans revealed by Israel but claimed Iran had wanted him dead for years. The White House later acknowledged that changes to his travel plans after the NATO Summit in Ankara were made as part of security measures for the president’s protection.
