Khamenei Adviser Says Iran Will Respond With Missiles If US Strikes Again

Iran warns of heavy retaliation if US carries out further attacks.

Tensions between Iran and the United States escalated further on Wednesday after a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader issued a strong warning of retaliation in the event of any renewed American military action. The statement came amid reports of recent US strikes targeting an Iranian tanker and facilities on Iran’s Qeshm Island, developments that have further strained already fragile regional stability.

Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned in a post on social media platform X that any future attacks would be met with a large-scale military response. He stated that “every shot fired and every attack will be met with a deluge of missiles and drones,” adding that any aggressor would be “swiftly punished.” The remarks reflect a sharp escalation in rhetoric from Iranian leadership following the reported strikes.

According to emerging reports, the US actions allegedly triggered retaliatory incidents involving attacks on targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, though detailed confirmation from official sources remains limited. The situation has raised concerns among regional observers about the potential for a broader escalation involving multiple Gulf states, given the strategic importance of the area for global energy routes and international shipping lanes.

The exchange of threats and reported strikes comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East remain high due to ongoing geopolitical conflicts and military posturing by various regional and global powers. Analysts note that any sustained cycle of retaliation between Iran and the United States could have wider implications for regional security, particularly in the Gulf, where military installations and commercial shipping routes are densely concentrated.

While no formal response has yet been issued by US officials regarding the latest statement from Rezaei, diplomatic observers are closely monitoring developments for signs of further escalation or potential de-escalation efforts through intermediaries. The situation continues to evolve rapidly, with international stakeholders urging restraint amid fears of a broader confrontation.

As of now, the reported strikes and counter-threats have not been independently verified in full detail, and officials from the affected regions have yet to provide comprehensive public assessments. The evolving situation underscores the volatility of US-Iran relations and the potential for localized incidents to trigger wider geopolitical consequences.
