Iran President Details 2.5-Hour Meeting With Supreme Leader Khamenei In Public Remarks

Iran President Pezeshkian describes 2.5-hour meeting with Khamenei.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described his recent meeting with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as a lengthy and deeply cordial discussion, stating that the encounter lasted around two and a half hours and reflected an atmosphere of trust and calm dialogue. His remarks were made during a visit to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, where he addressed representatives of guilds and market stakeholders.

According to statements reported by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Pezeshkian said he had the “honour” of meeting Khamenei and highlighted what he described as the Supreme Leader’s sincerity and modesty. He noted that the discussion provided an opportunity for direct communication on national issues, lasting approximately two and a half hours.

Pezeshkian further said the “manner of confrontation, gaze, and humble and deeply intimate manner” of Khamenei stood out most during the meeting. He added that this approach helped create an environment of trust, calmness, and mutual understanding, allowing for open discussion on key matters of governance and national concern.

The Iranian president’s comments came during an unannounced appearance at the ministry meeting on May 6, where he also briefed attendees about the nature of his discussions with the Supreme Leader. The remarks were presented as part of a broader effort to highlight coordination between Iran’s executive leadership and its highest political authority amid ongoing regional and domestic pressures.

Separately, regional media reports have suggested that diplomatic activity involving Iran and the United States may be increasing, with discussions reportedly aimed at easing tensions and addressing maritime disruptions in strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian lawmakers have publicly expressed skepticism over the prospects of any rapid breakthrough, signalling internal differences in expectations regarding negotiations. The comments by Pezeshkian come at a time of heightened geopolitical sensitivity for Iran, as the country navigates economic challenges, regional tensions, and international negotiations, while maintaining its internal political cohesion under the leadership of Khamenei.
