Intelligence Reports Indicate Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is in Severe Condition

Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei unconscious, under treatment amid US tensions.

Mojtaba Khamenei is reportedly unconscious and receiving medical treatment in Qom, according to a report by The Times citing an intelligence-based diplomatic memo. The assessment, reportedly drawn from U.S. and Israeli intelligence shared with Gulf allies, described Khamenei’s condition as “severe” and indicated that he is currently unable to participate in governance or decision-making.

The memo, reviewed by the publication, also identified for the first time the location of the Iranian Supreme Leader. Officials reportedly engaged the U.S. National Security Agency and Iran’s diplomatic representation in Washington, operating through the Pakistani embassy, regarding the contents of the assessment. Khamenei has not made any public appearances since the recent escalation of conflict in West Asia, with statements attributed to him being disseminated exclusively through Iranian state media.

The report emerges amid heightened tensions in the region, following U.S. President Donald Trump issuing a hard deadline to Tehran. Speaking at the White House, Trump warned that unless Iran agreed to a deal by 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, U.S. forces would target Iranian bridges and power plants. “This is a critical period… They have till tomorrow, 8 o’clock… After that, they are going to have no bridges. They are going to have no power plants. Stone ages,” Trump said.

Trump described the current Iran as “much more powerful” than when the conflict began on February 28, claiming that recent U.S. actions had “decapitated” Iranian capabilities. He stressed that earlier administrations had failed to address the issue over the past 47 years, framing his approach as a decisive intervention. “This should’ve been handled by the seven presidents… It’s not something I like doing,” he added.

The development concerning Khamenei’s health adds a new layer of uncertainty to an already volatile situation in West Asia. Analysts warn that any incapacity in Iran’s leadership could influence decision-making during the ongoing conflict, potentially complicating diplomatic efforts and raising regional security concerns.

International observers continue to monitor both Khamenei’s condition and Tehran’s response to the U.S. ultimatum, noting that the situation could have far-reaching implications for regional stability, energy markets, and global diplomatic engagement.
