Jewish School Bombed in Amsterdam in Deliberate Attack on Community
Limited damage was reported after an explosion struck an Amsterdam Jewish school on Saturday morning.
A Jewish school in Amsterdam suffered an explosion early on Saturday in what authorities are describing as a targeted attack against the city’s Jewish community. Femke Halsema, the mayor of Amsterdam, said the incident caused only limited damage but emphasised that it was aimed specifically at the community, highlighting growing concerns over safety and security for minority groups in the city.
According to local reports cited by Reuters, the blast did not result in any injuries, though structural damage was noted on the school premises. Officials are investigating the cause of the explosion and reviewing security footage to determine the perpetrators behind the attack. The school has been temporarily closed as precautionary measures are implemented to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions following a recent incident in Rotterdam, where police arrested four men after an arson attempt on a synagogue in the city centre on Friday. Authorities are examining whether there is any connection between the two incidents, as both appear to target Jewish institutions in the Netherlands.

Mayor Halsema reaffirmed the city’s commitment to protecting all religious communities and condemned acts of violence against minority groups. Security forces have increased patrols around Jewish institutions across Amsterdam, and the investigation into the explosion is ongoing, with local law enforcement working to identify and apprehend those responsible.
