Jaishankar and Greek Defence Minister Discuss Security and Regional Issues in New Delhi
EAM Jaishankar holds strategic and security talks with Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias during his official visit to India.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday held wide-ranging discussions with Greece’s Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, focusing on strategic and security-related issues of mutual interest. The meeting took place in New Delhi as part of Dendias’ official visit to India, undertaken at the invitation of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said he was pleased to welcome the Greek minister and highlighted that the two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on regional and global security matters. He also noted that India valued Greece’s assessments and perspectives on evolving geopolitical developments.
Dendias, in his own social media post, described the interaction as cordial and said he was honoured to be invited to Jaishankar’s residence. He added that the discussions covered a broad range of regional and international issues, reflecting the growing strategic convergence between India and Greece.

Earlier, on February 6, the Greek minister had outlined the agenda for his India visit, which includes meetings with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar. He also said he would participate in discussions at the India–EU Forum on international developments and security, and engage with stakeholders in Bengaluru to explore cooperation between the Greek and Indian defence industry ecosystems.
The visit comes at a time of expanding India–EU engagement, following the signing of a free trade agreement with the European Union. Referring to recent trade agreements, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is concluding future-ready deals with multiple partners, adding that agreements with the EU and the United States have enhanced global confidence in India as a stable and trusted international partner.
