Israeli Air Force Destroys Aircraft Used by Iran’s Late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
Israel destroys aircraft used by Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during strikes on over 200 targets.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has destroyed an aircraft linked to Iran’s late Supreme Leader Syed Ali Khamenei during overnight strikes at Mehrabad Airport, according to reports from Reuters. The aircraft, previously used by senior Iranian officials and military personnel for domestic and international travel, was described by Israel as a key logistical and diplomatic asset.
“The Air Force destroyed the plane of the leader of the Iranian terror regime at the ‘Mehrabad' airport in Tehran,” the Israeli Air Force said in a statement, noting that the aircraft had also been used to coordinate with Iran’s regional allies.
Israeli military officials said the strike on the aircraft impairs operational coordination between Iran’s leadership and allied countries, limiting the regime’s ability to build military power and maintain strategic communication. They described the destruction as the removal of “another strategic asset” from Iran’s arsenal.

Mehrabad Airport, one of Tehran’s oldest aviation hubs, primarily handles domestic and regional flights but is also considered a dual-use facility, hosting Iranian air force assets alongside civilian operations. The strike on the aircraft was part of a larger wave of Israeli air operations carried out over the past 24 hours.
The IDF reported targeting more than 200 sites across western and central Iran, including military infrastructure, operational headquarters, advanced air defence batteries, and munitions production and storage facilities. The strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing campaign to degrade Iran’s military capabilities amid escalating regional tensions.
Military analysts note that these operations mark a significant intensification in the conflict between Israel and Iran, with both sides increasingly targeting each other’s strategic assets. The strikes follow heightened hostilities in the region, including US-Israeli military actions against Iran earlier this year, and underscore the growing volatility in West Asia.
