Israel Orders Fresh Evacuations As Forces Push Deeper Into Southern Lebanon Amid Escalation
Israel expands operations in Lebanon, triggering new evacuation orders.
Israel’s military on Saturday issued fresh evacuation warnings for residents of seven villages in southern Lebanon as its forces reportedly advanced deeper into Lebanese territory amid ongoing cross-border hostilities with Hezbollah. The warnings came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli troops had pushed further north, escalating tensions along the already volatile frontier.
The Israeli military advised civilians in areas near Nabatieh and surrounding villages to evacuate immediately, citing intensified operations. The developments follow continued exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, with both sides accusing each other of violating ceasefire arrangements that have been repeatedly strained since April.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has called for international intervention to secure a ceasefire, urging the United States and other mediators to intensify diplomatic efforts. In a call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Aoun stressed the urgency of halting military escalation and protecting civilian populations amid growing displacement in southern Lebanon.

The escalation follows renewed battlefield activity on both sides. Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for rocket fire targeting northern Israeli areas, including Kiryat Shmona, and has reported ambushes against Israeli troops advancing near key positions in southern Lebanon. Israel, in turn, has continued air and ground operations, saying it is targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and militant positions.
According to reports from Lebanon’s state media and health ministry, Israeli airstrikes have struck multiple locations in southern Lebanon, including the coastal city of Tyre, causing significant casualties and displacement. Officials in Beirut have described the attacks as violations of humanitarian law, while humanitarian agencies have warned of worsening conditions as shelters become overcrowded.
The ongoing conflict has intensified regional instability, with indirect negotiations continuing alongside military operations. US-mediated talks involving Israeli and Lebanese delegations have been held in Washington, even as fighting continues on the ground. Despite diplomatic efforts, both Israel and Hezbollah have maintained hardline positions, with no durable ceasefire in place as the humanitarian toll rises.
