Iran Says It Targeted US Military Aircraft In Jordan Amid Rising Tensions

Iran claims attacks on US aircraft amid rising tensions.

Iran has claimed that it carried out missile and drone strikes targeting US military aircraft stationed in Jordan, describing the action as retaliation for American strikes on Iranian territory. In a statement, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that several US refuelling aircraft and fighter jets were destroyed and that additional aircraft suffered serious damage. The claims come amid escalating military tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The IRGC also called on Jordanians to target what it described as US interests in the country. The statement followed a fresh round of American strikes on Iran, with the US military saying it had conducted overnight operations aimed at further reducing Iranian military capabilities. The strikes reportedly targeted locations including Qeshm Island and areas near Bandar Abbas, which hosts Iran's largest port and important naval and Revolutionary Guard facilities.

The latest developments mark another major escalation in the conflict between the United States and Iran, with both sides continuing to exchange military actions and warnings. Iran has repeatedly vowed to respond to attacks on its territory, while the US has said its operations are intended to weaken military infrastructure and limit threats from Iranian forces.

Details surrounding Iran's claims about the strikes in Jordan have not been independently verified. It remains unclear how much damage was caused or whether the reported aircraft losses have been confirmed by US officials. Military claims during active conflicts are often subject to competing accounts from opposing sides, making independent verification difficult.

The situation has increased concerns about a wider regional conflict involving US forces and Iran-linked groups across the Middle East. Governments in the region are closely monitoring developments as further military actions could affect security, diplomatic relations, and stability across neighbouring countries.
