Iran Rejects Nuclear Talks While Reviewing US War-End Response Amid Tensions

Iran rejects talks, reviews US response to end war.

Iran has confirmed that there are currently no nuclear negotiations underway with the United States and said it is reviewing Washington’s response to its broader proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. The statement comes amid heightened diplomatic activity and continued tensions between the two countries, with both sides exchanging proposals through mediating channels.

According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, the country’s latest 14-point proposal is focused exclusively on ending the war and does not include any nuclear-related discussions. He clarified that reports suggesting Iran had agreed to suspend uranium enrichment or engage in nuclear concessions were incorrect and not part of the current diplomatic framework.

Iran further stated that the United States has responded to its proposal via Pakistani mediators, and that the reply is currently under review in Tehran. Officials confirmed that the exchange is part of ongoing indirect communication aimed at de-escalating hostilities rather than initiating formal nuclear negotiations. The Iranian side reiterated that its current diplomatic initiative is centered on ending the conflict and addressing regional security concerns, including issues related to Lebanon and maritime tensions. Officials emphasised that nuclear matters are not included at this stage and will not be part of the present negotiation track.

The proposal reportedly includes wider political and security demands such as guarantees against further military action, easing of blockades, lifting of sanctions, and the unfreezing of Iranian assets. It also touches on broader regional arrangements, including stability in key maritime routes like the Strait of Hormuz, which has been significantly affected by the ongoing conflict.

The United States, meanwhile, has not formally confirmed the details of its response but has previously expressed skepticism over Iran’s proposals, particularly regarding conditions tied to sanctions relief and regional military presence. Diplomatic exchanges have been mediated through third parties, with Pakistan playing a key role in relaying messages between the two sides.

As Iran reviews the latest American response, uncertainty remains over whether the diplomatic track will lead to a breakthrough or further prolong the standoff. For now, both sides appear to be maintaining communication channels while holding firm on their core demands, leaving the future of negotiations and regional stability hanging in the balance.
