Iran Billboard Depicting Trump In Coffin Draws Global Attention
Provocative billboard intensifies debate over Iran-US tensions.
A large political billboard displaying an image of US President Donald Trump inside a coffin has appeared at Tehran's Enghelab Square, drawing international attention amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. The hoarding carries messages including "We Will Kill Trump" in Persian and English, reflecting hostile political messaging as relations between the two countries remain strained. The display has become part of Iran's broader use of public spaces for ideological and political communication.
The billboard shows a depiction of Trump lying inside an open black coffin, with his eyes and mouth closed, his hair dishevelled, and his hands placed over a red tie on his body. Additional graffiti-style writing covers the coffin, with references to revenge and remembrance. The imagery is positioned near a statue depicting a raised fist associated with Iran's revolutionary symbolism, adding to the political message conveyed to passersby.
Iran has frequently used large public displays, murals, and billboards to communicate political messages, particularly during periods of conflict or national mourning. In recent months, Tehran has increased the use of such visual campaigns featuring revolutionary themes, war-related imagery, and messages directed at foreign adversaries. These displays are part of a wider state-backed communication strategy aimed at shaping public opinion and reinforcing national narratives.

The latest billboard appeared amid reports and allegations regarding possible threats against Trump, although authorities in Tehran have not officially confirmed any involvement in plans targeting the former US president. Similar anti-American and anti-Israeli messages have previously appeared on Iranian billboards. Earlier displays have used symbolic imagery involving US military power, the Strait of Hormuz, and references to confrontation with Western countries.
The messaging on the billboard also includes references to figures and events linked to Iran's recent conflicts. Some writings reportedly honour individuals described by Iranian groups as martyrs and refer to communities affected by military strikes. The display comes during a period of heightened emotions among sections of the Iranian public following reported deaths of senior figures and casualties linked to regional tensions.
Political analysts have noted that such public imagery is not unusual in Iran, where billboards and murals have long served as tools of political expression. However, the direct reference to Trump and the explicit wording on the latest display have attracted wider attention due to the sensitive nature of US-Iran relations and ongoing security concerns involving leaders from both countries.
