India-US Defence Cooperation Strengthens After High-Level Pacific Commander Visit
US Pacific Commander visit strengthens India-US defence cooperation and logistics.
The United States Embassy on April 27 stated that India and the US further strengthened their defence cooperation during the recent visit of US Pacific Air Forces Commander General Kevin Schneider, highlighting continued expansion of strategic military ties between the two nations. General Schneider visited India from April 19 to April 25, during which he toured key operational and training facilities and held meetings with senior Indian defence leadership, including officials from the Indian Air Force. According to the US Embassy, the visit was aimed at reinforcing longstanding military relations and exploring new areas of operational collaboration between the two countries.
The Embassy said the engagements reflected the growing scope and complexity of India-US defence cooperation across multiple domains, including air, land, sea, space, and cyber security. It added that both countries are steadily enhancing interoperability through regular joint exercises, training programmes, and high-level exchanges, enabling their armed forces to operate more effectively in coordinated scenarios.
A key focus area of the visit was strengthening logistics cooperation, which both sides see as essential for improving readiness and rapid response capabilities. The Embassy noted that improved logistics frameworks and agreements would support more seamless coordination between Indian and US forces, particularly during humanitarian assistance operations and regional contingencies across the Indo-Pacific region.

General Schneider also observed ongoing training and operational activities, which, according to the US side, demonstrated increasing trust and integration between the two militaries. These interactions were described as part of broader efforts to modernise defence capabilities and prepare for evolving security challenges in the region.
Reaffirming its strategic outlook, the US Embassy said that the United States views India as a vital partner in maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. It further stated that the visit underscored the continued momentum of the US-India Major Defence Partnership, with both countries committed to expanding cooperation in response to shifting global and regional security dynamics.
