South Korean President Lee concludes India visit after talks with PM Modi and heads to Vietnam.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung concluded his three-day State Visit to India on Tuesday and departed for Vietnam, marking the end of a diplomatic engagement that both sides described as productive and forward-looking. The visit is seen as a step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between India and South Korea across multiple sectors.

According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the visit delivered “tangible outcomes” and placed bilateral relations on a stronger foundation. He noted that the engagement has helped establish a forward-looking agenda aimed at deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

President Lee was seen off in New Delhi by Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra before his departure. In a post on social media platform X, the MEA highlighted that the visit reinforced the growing partnership between the two countries and set the tone for future collaboration.

During his stay in India, President Lee held wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. The leaders reviewed cooperation in sectors including trade, financial services, shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and defence. They also discussed expanding ties in critical and emerging technologies, as well as boosting cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Following the bilateral talks, both sides witnessed the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering key areas such as the digital economy, maritime cooperation, education, sports, and cultural collaboration. The agreements are expected to further deepen institutional engagement between the two countries.

President Lee also attended a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where Prime Minister Modi, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and other senior dignitaries were present. In his remarks, Lee expressed admiration for President Murmu’s life journey and praised India’s growing global confidence.

After concluding his engagements in India, President Lee is now scheduled to travel to Vietnam, where he will hold talks with senior leadership including President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. His visit to Vietnam will focus on strengthening economic cooperation and will include participation in a business forum before he returns to South Korea later this week.
