India, Denmark Deepen Cooperation On MSMEs, Innovation And Intellectual Property

India and Denmark have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development, innovation and intellectual property (IP) during the fourth meeting of their Joint Working Group (JWG) in Copenhagen, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

The meeting provided a platform for both sides to exchange views on their respective MSME and innovation ecosystems and identify opportunities for greater institutional cooperation. Discussions focused on technology adoption, innovation, intellectual property, technology commercialisation, entrepreneurship and cluster-based approaches to MSME development.

The two sides also reviewed the outcomes of earlier engagements and discussed priorities for future cooperation under the existing JWG framework. The talks are aimed at expanding institutional linkages and creating opportunities for greater knowledge exchange between stakeholders supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups and MSMEs in India and Denmark.

As part of the engagement, the Indian delegation visited Aarhus University Innovation “Kitchen” and Agro Food Park to study Denmark’s innovation support systems and business cluster ecosystems. The visits provided an opportunity to exchange experiences on mentoring, start-up support, industry-academia partnerships and cluster-based models for strengthening entrepreneurship and MSME development.

The delegation also held discussions with Denmark’s Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs on business development, innovation and the country’s SME ecosystem. It further participated in the Nordic–India Startup Summit 2026 by TechBBQ, where members interacted with stakeholders from the Nordic start-up and innovation ecosystem and exchanged perspectives on India’s growing MSME sector.

Ambassador of India to Denmark Manish Prabhat welcomed the continued functioning of the JWG mechanism and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation. He encouraged further engagement and the identification of new areas of collaboration. The meeting highlighted the shared focus of India and Denmark on innovation- and IP-led MSME growth, knowledge exchange and stronger institutional partnerships.
