Eight Railway Stations Redeveloped, NH Sections Laid: PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 4,400 Crore Projects

PM Modi inaugurates Rs 4,400 crore projects, including railway station redevelopments and highway expansions in Madurai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated infrastructure projects worth over Rs 4,400 crore in Tamil Nadu and laid the foundation stone for key highway expansion works. The initiatives include the four-laning of the Marakkanam–Puducherry section and the Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram section of national highways, aimed at improving regional connectivity and boosting economic growth.

As part of the visit, PM Modi inaugurated eight redeveloped railway stations across Tamil Nadu and dedicated the Chennai Beach–Chennai Egmore 4th Line to the nation, strengthening rail infrastructure in the state. He arrived in Madurai from neighbouring Puducherry, receiving a warm and enthusiastic reception from the public.

The Prime Minister’s schedule includes a visit to the Arulmigu Subramanyaswamy Temple in Tirupparankundram, where he is expected to offer prayers at around 4 pm. This religious visit highlights his engagement with local cultural and spiritual traditions.

Following his temple visit, PM Modi is slated to address a rally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at Mandela Nagar, where leaders from alliance parties will share the stage with him. The rally is expected to focus on development achievements, infrastructure growth, and regional issues.

Officials highlighted that the highway and railway projects are part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance mobility, trade, and transport efficiency in Tamil Nadu. These initiatives are expected to facilitate smoother travel, reduce congestion, and strengthen economic links between urban and rural areas.

The visit underscores the government’s emphasis on infrastructure-led development in the state, combining transportation upgrades with public engagement and cultural outreach.
