Delhi Police Bust Pakistan-Linked Terror Module, Five Arrested Nationwide

The Delhi Police Special Cell, in coordination with central intelligence agencies, dismantled a Pakistan-linked terror module, arresting five suspects in multi-state raids on Tuesday and Wednesday. The operation, prompted by intelligence indicating a planned major attack, targeted locations in Delhi, Jharkhand, Telangana, and other states, preventing a potential terror strike, authorities said.

The module’s alleged mastermind, Ashar Danish, also known as CEO, Gazba, and Professor, was apprehended in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Two suspects, Aftab and Sufiyan from Mumbai, were arrested in Delhi, while Muzapa was detained in Telangana, and Kamran was also taken into custody. Police sources revealed that the group was communicating with Pakistan-based handlers through encrypted social media platforms, aiming to execute a large-scale attack to disrupt communal harmony.

Raids uncovered a significant cache of materials for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs), including chemicals like sodium bicarbonate, hydrochloric acid, and sulphur powder, as well as ball bearings, electronic circuits, gas masks, and wires. From Danish’s hideout in Ranchi, authorities seized additional chemicals and digital devices, now under forensic analysis to uncover the module’s network and international connections.

The suspects are under interrogation to determine their funding sources, potential targets, and links to foreign handlers. The operation, which followed six months of surveillance, underscores India’s ongoing efforts to counter terrorism, particularly modules linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), often disguised as other extremist groups. Further investigations are ongoing to dismantle the broader network.
