Delhi NCR Forecast: Cloudy With Fog; Min Temps Fall 5–6°C in 3 Days
No rain today; fog, with a 5–6°C minimum temp drop expected in Delhi NCR.
Delhi and its surrounding regions woke up to clear skies on Saturday after a fresh spell of rainfall on Friday, which briefly lowered pollution levels. While no rain warning has been issued for the city today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects generally cloudy skies with shallow to moderate morning fog and northwesterly winds reaching 10–20 kmph.
Minimum temperatures are forecast to drop by 5–6°C over the next three days due to cold northwesterly winds before gradually rising afterward. For January 24, Delhi’s temperature is expected to be between 7°C (min) and 17°C (max). Experts note that while these winds originate from fresh snowfall in the mountains, the dip won’t be sharp enough to trigger a cold wave.
Friday’s rainfall measured 19.8 mm in Delhi, the highest single-day rainfall in January in three years. Gurugram recorded 12 mm and saw its alert upgraded to orange, warning of thunderstorms, hail, lightning, and strong winds up to 60 kmph. Residents are advised to remain indoors and take precautions against flying debris. Southern Haryana districts, including Gurugram, also remain under a yellow warning for dense fog and dust storms till Sunday.

The rainfall slightly improved Delhi’s air quality, but it remains in the “poor” category, with an AQI of 264 on Saturday morning. The IMD forecasts the air quality will remain poor till January 26 and likely worsen to “poor to very poor” from January 27 onwards.
