At Least 11 Killed In Russian Attack On Ukraine As Rescue Efforts Continue

Russian strike kills 11, traps civilians in Ukraine.

Russia launched a large-scale overnight missile and drone attack on Ukraine, killing at least 11 people, injuring dozens, and trapping residents under rubble in damaged residential buildings, according to Ukrainian authorities. The barrage struck multiple regions, with explosions continuing through the night into the early morning.

In Kyiv, at least four people were killed and 58 others were injured, including three children, Ukraine’s state emergency service said. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged across eight districts of the capital, as emergency crews worked through debris and unstable structures to rescue those trapped.

In the central Dnipropetrovsk region, at least six people were killed and 36 injured in the city of Dnipro after Russian strikes hit residential areas, officials said. A subsequent strike occurred as first responders arrived at the scene, killing one emergency rescuer during ongoing rescue operations.

In Kyiv’s Podilskyi district, part of a nine-story residential building was heavily damaged, leaving people trapped beneath the rubble. In the Solomianskyi district, a 20-story building and a 24-story building were also damaged, adding to widespread destruction across the capital’s residential zones.

Ukrainian authorities said residents had been bracing for a renewed wave of attacks after repeated warnings from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who urged civilians to remain alert and seek shelter during air raid alerts amid expectations of intensified Russian strikes.

Officials also reiterated urgent calls for additional air defense systems and missiles from international partners, noting that while Ukraine has been intercepting a large proportion of incoming drones, ballistic missiles continue to pose a significant challenge to the country’s air defense capabilities.
