Amit Shah Predicts NDA Will Win Over 160 Seats in Bihar, Backs Nitish Kumar for CM
Union Home Minister forecasts NDA's over 160-seat win in Bihar polls.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah articulated strong assurance regarding the National Democratic Alliance's prospects in the Bihar assembly elections, projecting a victory exceeding 160 seats that would enable the coalition to establish the subsequent government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. During addresses in the Champaran region, Shah underscored the NDA's commitment to maintaining governance stability, while issuing a direct challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to conduct numerous yatras in defense of infiltrators, affirming the Bharatiya Janata Party's resolve to expel all illegal immigrants from the state.
In his speech at a rally in Bettiah, West Champaran, Shah critiqued the Rashtriya Janata Dal under Lalu Prasad Yadav, referencing their past endorsements of figures like Shahabuddin through slogans such as ‘Shahabuddin amar Rahe’ and their aspirations for reinstating ‘jungle raj’. He invoked historical accounts of violence during the RJD's tenure under Lalu and Rabri Devi, describing Champaran as a site of bloodshed and widespread terror that the populace remains unwilling to overlook, thereby positioning the NDA as the safeguard against such regression.
Shah reiterated the NDA's anticipated electoral success, estimating 160 seats to achieve a two-thirds majority in government formation. At an earlier gathering in Motihari, East Champaran, he directed criticism toward dynastic tendencies in Congress and RJD, observing Sonia Gandhi's ambitions for her son as Prime Minister and the Yadav family's preferences for Tejashwi Yadav in the chief ministerial role, while noting that current incumbents Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar occupy those positions without contention.

Shah conveyed that no openings exist for such familial aspirations, constituting an indirect rebuke to the RJD-Congress alignment. He exhorted electors to select the lotus symbol—representing the BJP—via electronic voting machines, cautioning that failure to do so risks the resurgence of ‘jungle raj’ characterized by disorder and stagnation in Bihar.
Furthermore, Shah attributed Bihar's developmental setbacks to prior RJD administration, asserting that their governance inflicted substantial harm, impeding progress and distancing the state from national advancement trajectories. His appeals emphasized the NDA's track record in fostering development, urging sustained support to perpetuate this momentum through the forthcoming elections.
