Ajit Doval meets Russia and Myanmar leaders in Moscow.

India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with senior officials from Russia and Myanmar on the sidelines of the International Security Forum in Moscow, as discussions continued on global security challenges in an emerging multipolar world. The engagements took place during the 14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Matters, hosted by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.

During his visit, Doval met Denis Manturov, where both sides reviewed the full spectrum of India–Russia cooperation, including defence, energy and space collaboration. The meeting underscored ongoing strategic ties between the two countries, with both sides reaffirming interest in strengthening long-term partnerships in key sectors.

As part of the engagement, the Russian side also facilitated a visit by the Indian delegation to the National Space Center and the Roscosmos Joint Industry Information Centre. The interaction highlighted growing cooperation in space technology and exploration, an area that has seen increasing collaboration between New Delhi and Moscow in recent years.

Separately, Doval met Myanmar’s National Security Adviser Tin Aung San, where the two sides discussed security cooperation, defence coordination and regional connectivity projects. The meeting also included an exchange of views on broader developments in the region, reflecting India’s continued engagement with Myanmar under its Neighbourhood First policy.

The discussions come ahead of Myanmar’s expected participation in the upcoming BIMSTEC NSA-level meeting scheduled for July in India, which is expected to further strengthen regional security dialogue among Bay of Bengal Initiative member states. Officials said the engagement reflects sustained diplomatic efforts to enhance cooperation across South and Southeast Asia.

On the sidelines of the forum, Doval also reiterated India’s position on global counter-terrorism efforts, stressing that there should be no “double standards” in addressing terrorism. His meetings with Russian NSA Sergei Shoigu further reviewed ongoing cooperation across multiple strategic domains, reinforcing India’s active participation in international security discussions.
