Ajit Doval Stresses 'No Double Standards' on Terrorism at Moscow Security Meet

Ajit Doval reiterated India’s stance against double standards on terrorism at Moscow forum.

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Thursday said there can be no “double standards” in the global fight against terrorism, while addressing the International Security Forum and the 14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Matters held in Moscow.

The forum, hosted by Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, brought together senior security officials from multiple countries to discuss “Challenges and Threats to International Security in the context of the Emergence of the Multipolar World,” according to an official statement.

In his address, Doval stressed that responsible nations must take a clear and consistent stand on terrorism, urging them to either oppose terror networks and their sponsors or face them with decisive action. He reiterated that a unified global approach is necessary to effectively counter evolving terror threats.

“There cannot be double standards in the fight against terrorism,” the NSA said, underlining the importance of collective responsibility among nations in addressing cross-border security challenges.

Doval also called for urgent reforms in global governance institutions established after the Second World War, arguing that current structures are no longer fully equipped to deal with modern geopolitical realities. He emphasised the need for greater representation of the Global South in international decision-making frameworks.

Highlighting security concerns in West Asia, the NSA noted the importance of ensuring safe and uninterrupted maritime trade through key global routes, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several counterparts on the sidelines of the forum on May 28 and 29.
