651 Indian Army Peacekeepers Receive UN Medals For Service In DR Congo

In a formal recognition of India’s contribution to global peacekeeping efforts, 651 Indian Army personnel serving under the United Nations were awarded the United Nations Medal during a ceremonial parade held at the Permanent Operating Base Sake in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The ceremony was conducted on Friday, July 3, as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission MONUSCO. The Indian Army announced the development on Saturday.
The medal parade was attended by senior officials of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), representatives from Force Headquarters, military commanders, and several distinguished guests. The event marked an important occasion within the mission area, highlighting the role of deployed peacekeepers in maintaining stability in a volatile region.
