Yogi Hits Out at Congress, SP’s “Family-First Politics”
CM accuses opposition of family-first, anti-progress policies.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a blistering attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) on Thursday, accusing them of harboring a "narrow vision" that prioritized their families over public welfare, stunting the progress of both the state and the nation. Speaking at the inauguration of Shree Cement’s plant in Etah, Adityanath credited his government’s “clear policies and zero-tolerance approach” to crime for driving development in the district.
Adityanath criticized the Congress and SP for failing to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inclusive vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Together with All, Development for All). “These parties took everyone along but developed only their own families,” he said, alleging that their self-serving governance led to increased poverty, anarchy, and unchecked criminal activities. “There was no safety for businessmen or even police stations under their rule,” he added, painting a grim picture of past administrations.
The Chief Minister also highlighted India’s economic journey, noting that the country was a global economic leader in the 17th and 18th centuries but slipped to the 11th position by 2014 due to mismanagement. He attributed India’s decline to exploitation by the Mughals, British, and later the Congress and SP, accusing them of creating an “identity crisis” for the nation. Praising Modi’s leadership, Adityanath claimed India has risen to become the world’s fourth-largest economy and is on track to secure the third spot within two years.

The remarks, delivered amid a politically charged atmosphere, underscore Adityanath’s narrative of transformative governance under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The new cement plant in Etah, he said, symbolizes the state’s industrial growth and commitment to economic progress, contrasting sharply with the alleged failures of previous regimes. As Uttar Pradesh gears up for future elections, Adityanath’s sharp critique signals an intensifying political battle, with the BJP positioning itself as the sole driver of development and stability.
