Thane Man Nabbed For Molesting Minor In Shop, her Mother Retaliates With Beating

A chilling incident has rocked Kalyan East, Thane district, where 54-year-old Bhavan Avchal Patel was arrested for allegedly molesting a minor girl inside his clothing shop. The assault, which took place on Thursday, came to public attention after a video capturing Patel’s inappropriate behaviour with the victim went viral on social media on Friday. The disturbing footage sparked outrage, prompting the Kolsewadi police to act swiftly and contact the victim to register a formal complaint.

The police filed a case late Friday night under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reflecting the severity of the crime. Patel, a resident of Airoli, Navi Mumbai, was apprehended shortly after. Investigations revealed that the accused had not only molested the girl but also sent her obscene messages, further intensifying the charges against him. The case has highlighted the critical role of digital evidence in bringing perpetrators to justice.

In a bold act of defiance, the victim and her mother confronted Patel at his shop before police intervention, thrashing him with a slipper in retaliation for his actions. This public outburst underscored the community’s anger and the family’s demand for justice. The incident has drawn widespread attention, with locals calling for stricter measures to protect minors from such predatory behaviour.
