Thane Man Kills Live-in Partner, Dumps her Suitcase-Bound Body Near Creek Bridge
50-year-old arrested after gruesome creek-side discovery.
In a chilling murder that has shaken Thane district, Maharashtra Police arrested 50-year-old Vinod Srinivas Vishwakarma for strangling his 22-year-old live-in partner Priyanka Vishwakarma and concealing her body inside a large suitcase before callously discarding it near a creek bridge in Desai village.
The badly decomposed body was discovered by locals on Monday afternoon beneath the creek bridge, tightly packed inside a suitcase that had been flung from the structure days earlier; a distinctive tattoo reading ‘P V S’ near the victim’s wrist became the first vital clue that enabled police to establish her identity as Priyanka Vishwakarma, a resident of the same area.
Working swiftly with digital footprints from social media accounts and analysing multiple CCTV recordings from Desai village and surrounding roads, the crime branch zeroed in on Vinod Srinivas Vishwakarma, who had been living with the victim for the past five years, and took him into custody on Tuesday evening.

During intense interrogation at the Kasarvadavali police station, the accused broke down and confessed to the crime, admitting that a violent argument on the night of November 21 escalated uncontrollably, leading him to strangle Priyanka to death inside their shared residence.
Fearing immediate detection as the body began decomposing rapidly and emitting a strong odour throughout the house, he kept the corpse hidden for nearly 24 hours before stuffing it into a suitcase on the night of November 22, carrying it on foot under cover of darkness to the isolated creek bridge, and hurling it into the water below; he now faces charges of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and destruction of evidence.
