Husband Who Claimed Wife ‘Went for Pani Puri’ Confesses to Murder
Gujarat man kills wife, claims she vanished eating street food.
In a chilling murder that has shaken Rajkot, a husband coldly crushed his wife’s skull with an iron rod and then spun a bizarre story that she had simply “gone out for pani puri and never came back.” The gruesome truth surfaced within hours when police recovered the battered body of 33-year-old Snehaben Asodiya dumped near her own neighbourhood in Bhagwatipara. Suspicion immediately fell on her husband Hitesh Asodiya, whose casual complaint about a missing wife didn’t match the panic any normal spouse would show.
Investigators say the couple’s three-year marriage had turned into a daily war zone filled with bitter fights and constant suspicion. Sneha would bombard Hitesh with calls at his factory job, accusing him of infidelity, while he claimed her paranoia had pushed him to the breaking point. Neighbours revealed the arguments were so loud and frequent that they had become background noise in the locality. The couple’s two-year-old son was often shuttled to grandparents just to escape the toxic atmosphere at home.
The fatal evening began like many others: Sneha reminded Hitesh of his promise to take her out for dinner. Another argument erupted. Instead of cooling down, Hitesh quietly picked up a heavy iron rod from his workshop, hid it on his scooter, and told Sneha to come along for a ride. He drove her to a dark, deserted stretch barely minutes from their house, pretended he needed to urinate, and then swung the rod with lethal force from behind. Sneha collapsed instantly, her head smashed beyond recognition.

After dragging the body a short distance and abandoning it, Hitesh rode home, acted normal in front of his son, and then calmly walked into the police station with the outrageous pani puri story. Detectives saw through the lie almost immediately; within hours of the body being found, Hitesh broke down and confessed every horrific detail. He has now been arrested on murder charges while a stunned Rajkot reels from yet another case of domestic rage turning deadly.
As Sneha’s family mourns and demands the strictest punishment, police are piecing together how months of simmering resentment exploded into cold-blooded murder over something as trivial as an evening snack. The innocent phrase “let’s go eat pani puri” will now haunt this neighbourhood forever.
