Telangana Police Appoints Nine-Member SIT to Investigate Farmhouse Drug Seizure
Telangana forms SIT to probe Moinabad farmhouse drugs case arrests.
Telangana Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Moinabad farmhouse drugs case, which led to the arrest of Putta Mahesh Kumar, former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy, and several others for allegedly consuming drugs. The nine-member SIT will operate under the overall supervision of Future City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, according to official orders issued by Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy on Tuesday.
The SIT has been tasked with investigating all aspects of the alleged offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act. Authorities have been directed to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet within three months.
Members of the SIT include Yogesh Goutham, DCP Chevella; M. Ravinder Reddy, Group Commander, Greyhounds; Ch. Sirisha, DCP Shadnagar; and DSPs C. Harish Chandra Reddy and N. Buchaiah of the EAGLE Force. The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) had conducted the raid at Rohith Reddy’s farmhouse in Moinabad near Hyderabad on the night of March 14.

During the raid, eleven individuals, including a woman, were arrested. Six of them, including Rohith Reddy and Putta Mahesh Kumar, tested positive for drugs. Mahesh Kumar and seven others were released on police station bail on Sunday, while Rohith Reddy, his brother Ritesh Reddy, and Delhi-based businessman Namith Sharma were remanded to judicial custody.
Police alleged that Namith Sharma fired a licensed revolver, owned by Ritesh Reddy, during the raid. Authorities seized a .32 calibre German-made revolver along with live and spent cartridges. Additionally, cocaine weighing 0.26 grams was recovered from accused Sharath Kumar, who reportedly obtained it through Kaushik Ravi. Large quantities of liquor, including beer, whisky, vodka, and other premium brands, were also confiscated.
A case has been registered at Moinabad Police Station under multiple sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act, Telangana State Excise Act, and other relevant provisions, including sections 8(C), 22(A), 27, and 29 of the NDPS Act, and sections 25(1-B)(a) and 30 of the Arms Act. Police are continuing their probe into the incident, with the SIT expected to provide a comprehensive report within the stipulated timeframe.
