SUV Crashes Into Multiple Vehicles In Delhi, Woman Killed And Husband Injured

Woman dies and husband injured after SUV crashes into vehicles.

A 71-year-old woman was killed and her 65-year-old husband injured after an SUV allegedly crashed into multiple vehicles before knocking the couple down near Kailash Colony Metro Station in south Delhi's Greater Kailash-I, police said on Monday.

The incident was reported on Sunday after a PCR call regarding the accident was received at the Greater Kailash-I police station. Police personnel reached the spot after being alerted and found the injured couple. They were subsequently taken to Moolchand Hospital for medical treatment.

The woman, identified as Shashi, was declared brought dead at the hospital, according to police. Her husband, Kulbhushan, sustained injuries in the accident and was also admitted for treatment. Police said he was later declared fit to give a statement about the incident.

According to the police, the SUV had allegedly hit multiple vehicles before striking the couple near the metro station. The circumstances surrounding the sequence of collisions are being investigated. The incident has raised concerns over the manner in which the vehicle was being driven in the busy south Delhi area.

A case has been registered against the accused driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 281 for rash driving, Section 125(a) for an act endangering the life or personal safety of others, and Section 106 for causing death by negligence. Police said the accused driver has been arrested as part of the investigation.
