Speeding Audi Kills Three in Rewa While Distributing Wedding Cards

A speeding Audi hits a family bike distributing wedding cards, killing three in Rewa.

Three members of a family were killed after a speeding Audi car rammed into their motorcycle from behind in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday evening, police said. The tragic incident occurred when the family was travelling to distribute wedding invitation cards ahead of a marriage scheduled later this month.

The victims were identified as Bhagwat Vishwakarma (55), his son Shivam Vishwakarma, and a woman relative, Sheetal Vishwakarma. According to officials, the family was moving through different parts of Rewa to personally invite relatives and friends for the wedding of Bhagwat’s elder son, which was fixed for February 24.

The accident took place near Kosta village on the Rewa–Prayagraj highway, barely two kilometers from the family’s residence. Police said the high-speed luxury car struck the motorcycle from behind, throwing the riders onto the road and killing all three on the spot. The impact was so severe that they did not get a chance to receive medical assistance.

Local residents rushed to the site after hearing the crash and alerted the police. The bodies were later sent for postmortem examination. The Audi car involved in the accident was reportedly damaged, and police have begun efforts to trace the driver, who is suspected to have fled the scene following the collision.

A senior police official said a case has been registered, and preliminary findings point to overspeeding as the primary cause of the accident. Further investigation is underway to determine whether negligence, intoxication, or other factors were involved at the time of the crash.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the Vishwakarma family, turning what was meant to be a joyful period of wedding preparations into mourning. The tragedy has also renewed concerns over reckless driving and road safety on highways passing through populated areas of Madhya Pradesh.
