Rapido Rider Booked After Bengaluru Woman Alleges He Tried to Grab Her Legs During Ride

Bengaluru Rapido rider booked after woman alleges sexual misconduct during ride.

A Rapido bike taxi rider in Bengaluru has been booked after a woman accused him of inappropriate behavior during a ride. The incident reportedly occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday and was brought to the attention of the Wilson Garden Police, who swiftly registered an FIR. The woman recorded a short video of the incident and later took to social media to share her traumatic experience.

In her Instagram post, the woman narrated how the rider allegedly tried to grab her legs while riding. “While returning to my PG from Church Street on a Rapido ride, the captain tried to grab my legs while riding,” she wrote. When the act repeated, she confronted him saying, “Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo.” (What are you doing? Don’t do this.) Despite her plea, the rider allegedly continued to make her uncomfortable.

The woman said she refrained from asking the rider to stop mid-ride as she was new to the area and uncertain of her location. She shared that the situation left her shaken and vulnerable, explaining that this was not the first time she had faced such behavior. “No woman should have to go through something like this — not in a cab, not on a bike, not anywhere,” she added in her post.

Upon reaching her destination, a passerby noticed her discomfort and confronted the rider after learning what had happened. The accused reportedly apologized, promising not to repeat the act, but before leaving, he allegedly made a threatening gesture toward the woman, deepening her fear. Police have begun investigating the incident, and a response from Rapido is awaited.

Officials from the Wilson Garden police station confirmed that a detailed inquiry is underway. The video she shared online is expected to serve as crucial evidence in the probe. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage on social media, with users demanding stricter safety measures for women using ride-hailing and bike taxi services.
