Punjab Police Smash Pakistan-Linked Arms Smuggling Ring

Cops nab operative, seize weapons near border.

Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border arms smuggling module, arresting an operative allegedly directed by a Pakistan-based smuggler. The breakthrough came during an intelligence-led operation by Counter Intelligence Amritsar, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.

The accused was intercepted while attempting to deliver a consignment of five pistols—two 9MM, two .30 bore, and one .32 bore—retrieved near the India-Pakistan border. Yadav revealed that initial investigations point to links with a Pakistan-based smuggler aiming to supply arms to criminals and gangsters to disrupt peace in the region.

The operation led to the registration of an FIR at the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar. Punjab Police are now conducting a deeper probe to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network and its connections. “This is a major step in curbing cross-border crime,” Yadav stated on X.
