PM Modi to launch Rs 5,000 crore projects, boosting infrastructure and regional growth in Arunachal Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday for a day-long visit to inaugurate infrastructure projects worth over Rs 5,000 crore. Landing at Donyi Polo Airport in Hollongi, he was received by Governor KT Parnaik and Chief Minister Pema Khandu before proceeding to Itanagar’s Raj Bhavan by helicopter. The visit underscores the central government’s focus on boosting development in the Northeast, with projects aimed at enhancing energy, tourism, and connectivity in the region.

At a function in Indira Gandhi Park, Modi will virtually launch key initiatives, including two hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district. The 186 MW Tato-I project, developed by the Arunachal Pradesh government and NEEPCO at a cost of Rs 1,750 crore, is expected to generate 802 million units of electricity annually. The 240 MW Heo project, also a state-NEEPCO collaboration costing Rs 1,939 crore, will produce 1,000 million units yearly. These projects on the Yarjep River aim to bolster the state’s energy security and drive economic growth.

Additionally, Modi will inaugurate a state-of-the-art convention centre in Tawang, built under the PM-DevINE scheme for Rs 145.37 crore. With a capacity to host over 1,500 people, the facility is designed to meet global standards and promote tourism and cultural activities in the region. Other projects worth Rs 1,290 crore, spanning connectivity, health, and fire safety, will also be launched, aimed at improving infrastructure and quality of life in Arunachal Pradesh.
