New Tiles Hide Grisly Murder in Palghar Home!
Man’s body found buried under floor; wife, lover vanish.
A chilling discovery in a Nallasopara home has uncovered the murder of Vijay Chouhan, 34, whose decomposed body was found buried beneath freshly laid floor tiles, police said Tuesday. The prime suspects, Chouhan’s wife, Chaman Devi, 28, and her alleged lover, Monu Sharma, 20, a neighbor, are now on the run.
The gruesome find came to light when Chouhan’s brothers, seeking him for financial help on July 10, found his phone switched off. Chaman Devi claimed he was away for work. When they returned on July 19, her phone was off, and she was missing. Suspicious of new tiles in the couple’s Gangnipada home, the brothers dug up the floor, uncovering a foul odor and Chouhan’s body, buried roughly two weeks earlier.
Pelhar police, led by Senior Inspector Jitendra Vankoti, exhumed the remains with forensic and medical teams present, sending the body for autopsy at Mumbai’s JJ Hospital. A case has been filed against Devi and Sharma under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, evidence destruction, and common intention. A third local suspect is also under investigation.
