Chilling Delhi Murder: Wife and Cousin's Electrocution Plot Unravels Further

Sushmita and Rahul arrested for drugging and murdering Karan Dev in Dwarka.

In a chilling case in Delhi’s Dwarka, Sushmita Dev (35) and Rahul Dev (24) were arrested on July 19, 2025, for the murder of Sushmita’s husband, Karan Dev (36), initially reported as an accidental electrocution. The arrests followed a police investigation triggered by Karan’s brother, Kunal, who raised suspicions about the duo’s involvement after discovering incriminating chats, according to Dwarka DCP Ankit Singh.

On July 13, Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital in Uttam Nagar informed police of Karan’s death, initially attributed to electrocution. No foul play was alleged at the time, but a postmortem was conducted due to Karan’s age and to rule out unnatural causes. Kunal’s complaint on July 16, backed by the chats, led to a case being registered for murder and criminal conspiracy.

Police allege that on July 12, Sushmita laced Karan’s food with sleeping pills and invited Rahul to their home. The pair then cut an extension wire, wrapped the exposed wire around Karan’s hand to stage an electrocution, and Sushmita feigned distress to inform the family. “The two killed Karan and passed it off as an accidental death,” an officer stated, suggesting motives of removing Karan from their illicit relationship or financial gain.
